January Exhibit

Five15Arts presents UNFOLDING, a new solo exhibit by collective member Deborah Hodder. Presenting a mix of ceramic relief sculptures and monotypes, Hodder “explores the harmony of Earth’s flora and fauna.”

Deborah Hodder is perhaps best known as a ceramic artist, but this show features her return to printmaking, in which she got her MFA from ASU. She uses colorful stylized flowers to symbolize the universe. “Blooming petals and seed pistils depict the cycle of birth, propagation, death, and renewal” in this collection of new work. “Geometric patterns give the viewer a bird-and-bee’s eye view of the blossoms and underscore the interdependence of living things,” in the artist’s words.

Deborah Hodder has been a member of Five15Arts for many years. Her most recent solo show there in 2023, entitled “Heavens and Earth,” explored concepts related to String Theory. Five15Arts @ Chartreuse, located on Phoenix’s Historic Grand Avenue, is a collective art gallery that presents monthly shows by member artists and invited guests.
